    After 11 years we can’t wait to celebrate the amazing community that defines this place we call Gamut Gallery! It wouldn’t be a summer party without live painting and music in the courtyard, this year we will be featuring Yuya Negishi PLUS, there will be ten-minute portrait sessions made available by Daughters and Suns. We are welcoming some of our favorite Twin Cities house DJs; Mama Sauce, MPLS HOUSE, Jake Encinas & GirlE to create the celebration buzz!

    Setting the scene for our celebration is Kaleidoskull’s latest series of works featured in the Exoskeleton exhibit. Originally introduced at the Sound of Art Exhibition in New York over 15 years ago, Monty Montgomery & Tony Philippou merged their unique artistic styles into Kaleidoskull, blending figurative realism and abstract geometry. Each figure in their paintings and drawings is combined with an insect as a form of armor and anonymity. Monty and Tony have connected with the Twin Cities community through their world of imagination, inspiring the audience to feel empowered and engaged with the world they have created.

    There’s no place quite like Gamut Gallery, where people “come for the art, and stay for the party.” For more than a decade, Gamut has had the support of an engaging community, establishing a place where art, music, performance, and collaboration are all connected. We have made a name for ourselves in the Twin Cities art scene as an accessible gallery, showing affordable artwork with a welcoming attitude. We remain as dedicated as we were on Day One to continuing our tradition of serving as a cultural and social hub, focused on programming that engages and immerses our audience. Showing the work of over 930 local, national, and international artists, hosted over 270 exhibits and creative social events, and gained the support of over 280 members!

    Featured Artists
    Tony Philippou was born in The Bronx, NY and attended Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York. He currently lives and teaches in Orlando, Florida. He has been a Fine-Artist for over 20 years, but originally started out as a freelance illustrator and designer in NY, Tony blended his communication and design skill set with his love for Painting. Tony explores themes of urban decay, fashion, societal trends, and contemporary subjects with aesthetic techniques inspired by Renaissance portraiture, Graffiti, and Fantasy Illustration.

    Monty Montgomery was born and raised in Virginia and earned his BFA from Longwood University in 1998. He currently lives in San Diego, Ca. Monty began exhibiting his work professionally in 2002. In 2008 Montgomery launched the next chapter of his career by moving to a new studio in San Diego, CA. In recent years he has begun focusing on collaborative projects with other artists that play with the juxtaposition of disparate styles with the goal of stretching the boundaries of what each artist does individually. The first in 2012 was the “Kreashun Project” with J Feather and in 2016 he launched the “Kaleidoskull Project” with Tony Philippou. Both of these ongoing collaborations continue to evolve as does his personal work, each feeding off the other.

    Yuya Negishi is an artist from Japan. Currently living in Minneapolis MN he is mural-ing the cityscape with Yuyart! A fun combination of SUMI painting, calligraphy, and other classical Japanese mediums and motifs; his work is an expression of cultural heritage, wonder, and amusement.

    Lisa Luck aka Daughter and Suns is a contemporary fine artist, illustrator and designer specializing in hand-drawn illustration graphics. She does personal commissions for her clients that capture an essence only she can see.

    Exoskeleton – A collaborative exhibit with Monty Montgomery and Tony Philippou known as Kaleidoskull, together the duo’s paintings and drawings utilize the insect as a form of armor and anonymity. Shop the Exoskeleton series today!

    Originally introduced at the Sound of Art Exhibition in New York over 15 years ago, Monty Montgomery & Tony Philippou merged their unique artistic styles into Kaleidoskull, blending figurative realism and abstract geometry. Tony’s contrasting realistic human and animal forms emerge out of the structure of Monty’s precise angles of bold color, textures, and shapes.

    Kaleidoskull’s latest series of works featured in Exoskeleton utilize insects as representations of the literal and metaphorical translation of our defense mechanisms we use to protect ourselves physically and emotionally. Together the duo constructs visual imagery that relates to our sense of wonder at the exquisite beauty of things masked, yet revealed. Each figure in their paintings and drawings is combined with an insect as a form of armor and anonymity. Monty and Tony wish to connect with viewers through their world of imagination, inspiring the audience to feel empowered and engaged with the world they have created.

    Born and raised in the Bronx, Kaleidoskull Co-Founder Tony Philippou draws upon his own mixed cultural Puerto-Rican/Greek heritage, growing up during the burgeoning hip-hop era of the 1980s. Immersed in a culturally rich environment in his formative years, while experiencing and being surrounded by extreme poverty, enhanced his life in every aspect. As a father, he has made a conscious effort to create images of heroic women that his daughter can relate to and feel empowered by.

    Profoundly affected by his upbringing in the rural Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, Kaleidoskull Co-Founder Monty Montgomery’s work has always been informed by the visceral and emotional reactions to his daily experiences, whether exploring nature or trekking the streets of downtown. The divergent settings of the natural landscape and city streets imprint Monty’s artistic expression with a collision of color theory, mathematics, and abstraction; materializing into a single, unified vision. 

    Inspired by their combined love of geometric and organic forms, Montgomery and Philippou endeavored to create a new aesthetic that exhibited the beauty, strength, and contrast of the design elements intersecting women, insects, and color theory. Boundaries are intended to be pushed in the realm of art, design, and the remarkable synergy between nature and geometry as a definitive force.

    ABOUT THE ARTISTS

    As a young New Yorker with a very unique imagination, he would often conjure images of warriors and heroes who would traverse his imaginative landscapes. By experimenting with different styles and art-historical genres, Philippou depicts detailed moments that focus on both individual and universal experiences. Contrast and balance are ever present in his paintings as a mechanism for impact and readability. His work has been seen in Major Galleries across the US from New York to Los Angeles, as well as the Honolulu Museum of Art School in Hawaii, and has artwork in the permanent Collection of the Urban Nation Contemporary Art Museum in Berlin, Germany.

    Montgomery loved straight lines and bright colors at a very young age. He was influenced by his mother who was a kindergarten teacher and his father’s craftsmanship. Early memories of creating in the shop beside his father along with crayons and coloring books on the kitchen table guided by his mother left an impression that reflects in his work to this day. In his teen years, Monty discovered that he connected to the world a bit differently; the realization that he was profoundly absorbing emotional and physical energy from every experience in his path led him to interpret that energy and channel it into unique creative expressions. In his junior year at Longwood University, he launched Cilli Original Designs and began spreading his word through clothing, paintings, poetry, stickers, and culture.

     A multimedia exhibit exploring minimalism and movement, featuring Merick Reed, S. Catrin Magnusson, and Tiffany Lange. Curated by Cass Garner.

    Gallery Director, Cass Garner, is excited to welcome back three artists that she met throughout the years from previous Call-for-Work exhibitions to create Neon Flux, her latest curation at Gamut Gallery. Opening in April, this multimedia exhibit features Twin Cities’ established artists Merick Reed, S. Catrin Magnusson, and Tiffany Lange, showcasing photography, sculpture, ceramics, paintings and installation. 

    S. Catrin Magnusson’s sculptural forms draw on the iconography of geology as a starting place. As the earth’s tectonic forces separate and compact, it creates stress and pressure to move. While the work appears abstract, it has a specific reference to the physical world. Catrin emigrated from Sweden when she was young and became intensely aware of movement and displacement. She finds herself drawn to the quiet remnants of violent movement and the creation of a landscape from what is left behind, connecting deep time and macro processes to a personal timeline.

    Merick Reed keeps his practice innovative by working across multiple mediums of photography, painting and sculpture and furniture design, Neon Flux will be the first time all of his multifaceted pieces will be on exhibit together. Also debuting will be  Merick Reed’s collaboration with furniture designer George Mahoney, Associate Professor at MCAD, their new Side Tables that blur the line between function and sculpture. 

    Tiffany Lange’s Pink Solitude installation and her latest series of abstract paintings create parallels of being raised in the digital age and our consumption of technology. Navigating through a world of online static, Lange’s work echoes the pleasures that we receive from our screens through the use of vibrant neons and bold disruptive mark-making, but also mimics the overstimulation she experiences from her glowing devices. Neon Flux playfully nods at minimalism with the use of black and white, and simple structures, while incorporating pops of neon color. Accent hues and bold patterns engage the viewers’ subtle sense of movement, despite the static nature of the artwork. Together these mediums represent the push and pull against each other, portraying the constant movement underfoot unseen with our natural eye.

    Join moderator + Neon Flux curator Cass Garner for an exploration into the methods of Merick Reed, S. Catrin Magnusson, and Tiffany Lange.

    ABOUT THE ARTISTS

    S. Catrin Magnusson holds a MFA from Minneapolis College of Art and Design, a BFA in photography/sculpture from University of Colorado, Boulder, and two AS degrees in Film Production and Screenwriting from MCTC.  Recent shows include: “Subterranean” a solo show at the Phipps in Hudson, “Thought/Process” at Artistry in Bloomington, the Duluth Art Institute’s Biennial and “Hard/Soft” at the Center for the Arts in Wausau, WI.  She is the recipient of the Jerome Film Production Grant and has shown work locally and regionally in numerous galleries and film festivals.  Her artistic body includes sculpture, fiber, film and photography.

    Tiffany Lange received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting and a minor in Art History from the University of Wisconsin-Stout. Residencies include the Bud and Betty Micheels Artist-in-Residence and Elsewhere Studios in Paonia, CO. Lange has exhibited her work nationally along with local spaces in Minneapolis. Recent exhibitions include “C4W – Elemental” at Gamut Gallery, “Hold Us Tight” at Fresh Eyes Gallery, “Put it in the Chat” at Soo Visual Arts Center, “Hyperconnection” at Michigan Technological University and “WIRED” at the Rountree Gallery. She is currently working out of her studio space in Lowertown St. Paul.

    Merick Reed is a modern minimalist sculptor, photographer and designer living in Saint Paul, Minnesota. His work expresses simple, graphic geometry balancing a spare and highly refined aesthetic with raw brutalism. Influenced by architecture and contemporary design, his sculptural wall paintings are gestural arrangements, an interplay of dimensional facets and saturated monochromatic panels. They explore visual activation and interest through considered surface interruption, producing variation in light and shadow and a deconstruction of order.

    Thursday, March 9th 2023 // Join the discussion to learn collector tips and gain insight into the local art market in the Twin Cities. Featuring curators Genie Castro, Erinn Farrell, Esther Callahan and Cass Garner.

    When you collect artwork, physical aspects of a piece, like dimensions and colors, might be the qualities that push us over the edge into “gotta have it” territory, but generally, the buying experience is much more personal, intuitive, and rooted in a story. Artwork is more than what you see on the wall, it’s a narrative, a story shared by artists, collectors, and viewers. 

    Set amidst Gamut’s exhibition “Astroturf,” we invite you to join us for a panel discussion about collecting original artwork. The panel will feature four local curators, gallerists, and space-makers Genie Castro, Erinn Farrell, Esther Callahan and Cass Garner, who will each draw on their varied expertise in art consultancy, marketing, and managing collections. Together, these four women represent four corners of the Twin Cities art world, who share similar values and vision around the power of supporting local artists. 

    Are you ready to start collecting? These tastemakers will share tips and strategies for emerging collectors, like, how to learn about the artist and understand the materials and process used to create the work, and will dive into the intrinsic impulses that lead us to collect original artwork and build meaningful collections over time. buying within your budget, and commissioning artwork. The panelist will discuss how to go about collecting, how to support local artists, why it’s important to collect local art rather than outsourcing to other markets, and what characteristics make the Twin Cities unique.

    What does it mean to be an “emerging art collector” in the Twin Cities? How do we support local artists, and why is it so important? Featuring curators Esther Callahan, Erinn Farrell, and Genie Castro and is moderated by Cass Garner

    ABOUT THE PANELISTS

    Esther Callahan is an independent curator and co-artistic director at Arts + Rec Uptown. Callahan has been organizing exhibitions since the early 2000’s with a particular focus on artists from the region with a priority in diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion in her curatorial practice. Callahan has curated and organized numerous exhibitions and installations including a recent exhibition for the 2022 FotoFocus Biennial in Ohio.  

    Erinn Farrell is a Co-Founder and Partner at The Coven and the principal of Erinn Farrell Design. A lover of people, process, and design, she specializes in encouraging empathetic and high-performing spaces by focusing on empowerment and placemaking; her efforts help colleagues and partners unlock their talents and create a joyful ruckus. A global leader in inclusive design, Erinn is a sought-after speaker and Interior Designer in building & curating spaces that acknowledge, honor, and care for their inhabitants.  She believes our success lies in showing up unapologetically curious, honest, and optimistic. 

    Genie Castro is a community leader in the arts. She creates unity with projects she is involved in by connecting with people. She encourages students and clients to get into the creative process and learn through that exploration. Castro is the director and owner of a printmaking studio in the Casket Arts Building in Northeast Minneapolis called SuperCharged Printmakers. It is there she and other printmakers create an inviting space for artists to create freely in the medium of printmaking and have showing opportunities. Her artworks hung alongside artists Andy Warhol, Damien Hirst, Frank Stella, Robert Longo, and Donald Sultan. Castro’s art is featured in the homes of many private collectors and in public and corporate collections.

    Cass Garner is Co-Owner and Director of Gamut Gallery, as well as a Graphic Designer, Collector, and Curator focused on curating local artists into Haus Salon locations throughout the Twin Cities. At Gamut Gallery, she brings local, national, and international established and emerging artists into the gallery, driving the mission that “art is for everyone.”

    We have had a fantastic year featuring artists from all over the world. We are excited to end this calendar year with our 12th Annual Holiday Sale, Raging Art On. Since the inception of Raging Art On in 2011, we have hand-selected the artists, but leave the rest up to them, leaving it up to the artists to choose their best of the best for the holiday pop-up shop. Let our artists be your elves and continue to support our vibrant community of local artists and makers. This year we are welcoming 50 MN artists, many names and faces you may be familiar with from past RAO’s throughout the years however, we will also feature 19 NEW artists that have never shown during RAO before.

    With the gallery walls filled from floor-to-ceiling showcasing original works of all price points and mediums, tick off everyone on your list in a single shopping trip at Gamut. Whether it’s pottery, fiber art, paintings, prints, apparel, jewelry, or home goods that catch your eye, everything in the collection is ready to take home with you that day – giving you plenty of time to put off wrapping ‘til the very last minute.

    Time to throw on those bow ties and ball gowns! Saturday, November 12th, we’re honoring the thriving community that helps make our mission possible each year. As a heartfelt thank you to those who make this community what it is, we’ve organized this year’s annual Members Gala. This year’s ‘Moulin Rouge’ themed black-tie event is hosted during the duration of Coaction – a group exhibition curated by Derek Meier in partnership with Interact. Dress your best and prepare for a night of art, music, and surprise performances!

    We’re kicking the night off with DJ Megan O of the Megan O Show playing vintage French 45’s. From there, the evening will transition into lives performances by Edith Porter with Still Us. Rounding out the night, Jeff Swiff of House Proud and Nicewon Recordings is carrying us into an old-fashioned Gamut dance party.  Attendees that arrive early will enjoy a surprise guest performance and tarot readings by Crox Apollo. We are so glad to have the always delicious Sober Sallys crafting mocktail beverages again this year accompanied by a very special drink service from Enticing Entertainment. With photographer Caleb Timmerman behind the lens capturing all your best Moulin-rouge-themed red carpet looks, Gamut’s 2022 Gala will be a night to remember!

    The Gallery is now closed until February 2023! Get your art fix online as we have hundreds of works to choose from and will continue adding more pieces to our RAO collection through mid-January. As the shop is closed for our winter break, we will temporarily not be hosting in-store pick-ups but will continue shipping nationwide and delivering local orders.     That chill you’re feeling in the air means Gamut’s 11th annual holiday market Raging Art On (RAO) is back again to deck your halls! Since the inception of Raging Art On in 2011, we have hand selected the artists, but leave the rest up to them, leaving it up to the artists to choose their best of the best for the holiday pop-up shop. Always sourced locally, we’re excited to welcome over 50 participants this year, some names and faces you may be familiar with from past RAO’s plus 23 NEW artists. With the gallery walls filled from floor-to-ceiling showcasing original works of all price points and mediums, tick off everyone on your list in a single shopping trip at Gamut. Whether it’s pottery, fiber art, paintings, prints, apparel, jewelry, or home goods that catches your eye, everything in the collection is ready to take home with you that day – giving you plenty of time to put off wrapping ‘til the very last minute.

    Members of the gallery are invited to preview the festivities on Thursday, December 1st from 5pm–9pm, followed by four weeks of in-person shopping open to the public. Snowed in?     Manifesting themes of collaboration and material exchange, Gamut Gallery partners with Interact Center to host Coaction this fall.  Produced by guest curator Derek Meier, the group exhibition features work from eight multidisciplinary Interact artists alongside eight artist instructors.  Together, the collective exhibits individual pieces and joint works, showcasing creative dialogues and accessibility within the arts – from a book of poems and paintings by Cyrus M. and Jonas Spektor to an intricate wearable set by Lucy Picasso and Phoebe Mol. Through paintings, sculpture, drawing, fiber arts, and written word, Coaction offers the viewer a glimpse into Interact Center’s artist community and its combined energies. 

    “Interact artists selected for this exhibition have a longstanding, dedicated studio practice within our organization. The curation of each collaborative pairing was centered on selecting artists who engage in similar mediums or subject matter utilizing different approaches, creating a visual conversation that extends through the process,” states Derek. “Coaction continues Interact’s mission to have the work of these artists shown in the same light as other professional artists within the same market. 

    Since we opened our doors a decade ago, Gamut’s mission is to foster a community that spans all disciplines, lifestyles, and backgrounds. For that reason, we deeply appreciate the opportunity to partner with Interact Center for the Visual and Performing Arts studio artists and their instructors to facilitate the breadth of these works within our own gallery space.

    Gamut Gallery invites you to a panel discussion with moderator Juleana Enright with guest curator Jamie Owens on Wednesday, September 21st. The two will be joined in conversation by C4W:2022 artists Christopheraaron Deanes, Emily Quandahl, and Jeremy Jones to discuss their vibrant pieces featured in Pinky Promise. Having contributed to Gamut exhibitions in the past, we are eager to welcome all three back to the gallery and to spotlight them for the first time in an Art Talk.  Alongside audiences, we look forward to gaining a more profound understanding of their work through the lens of Owens’ theme of Pinky Promise.

All media is accepted for submission, artists of all levels are encouraged to submit, and there is never a predetermined theme for the exhibit. After reviewing the body of submitted works, each year’s chosen guest curator is free to hand-select a group of pieces that showcase the complete “Gamut” of visual mediums. The resulting exhibit makes for a memorable, one-of-a-kind event that our space is thrilled to host each fall. With guest curator Jamie Owens behind the wheel, Gamut Gallery’s 2022 C4W exhibition, Pinky Promise, is an enthusiastic and unexpected portrayal of emerging, established, and outsider artists across North America and Mexico. 

    ABOUT THE CURATOR
    Jamie Owens is a multi-disciplinary studio artist, preparator, designer, and curator living and working in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Having graduated with a bachelor’s degree in design from MCAD in 2014, his art has gained an international audience of collectors. After being exhibited in New York City, Germany, the San Diego Museum of Art & History, and the Minneapolis Institute of Art, Jamie has widened his focus to include curatorial work. He notably curated “Cracked Pavement: Twin Cities Skateboarding Then & Now” (2018) at Gamut Gallery, and “Selections” (2019) at Revere Auctions

    Jamie spends time making paintings, sculptures, and prints in his Minneapolis studio space and installing exhibitions at a multitude of local art galleries as an art handler. When not in the studio, Jamie is an advocate for emerging artists, aiding them with exhibitions often outside of traditional art spaces. He is also an avid participant in the Twin Cities skateboarding community and has been featured in local skate videos alongside prominent skateboarders from the metro area. 

    ABOUT THE SPEAKERS
    Christopheraaron Deanes’ work contextualizes the building of creative social capital in humanity to illuminate the journey of benevolence. After graduating from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design with his BFA, Christopheraaron went on to obtain his Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction in Education from the University of St. Thomas.  He later completed the Administrative (Eds) program at St. Mary’s University and a fellowship through the University of Minnesota, Urban Educators Program. He currently, works as a Culture and Climate Coordinator in Fridley Public schools. Christopheaaron’s work squarely focuses on the development of the chance to have a critical conversation about race and everyone’s role that we place in securing the future for a better more empathetic and equitable space for us.

    Emily Quandahl is an abstract artist and muralist based in Minneapolis. Her studio work is created in layers by experimenting with techniques and mediums, starting on the floor with a base of diluted acrylics and building from there.  With over 12 years devoted to studying classical viola, her compositions are inherently musical in their movements, while maintaining a balance between organic gestures and line-work, united by the use of color. 

    Jeremy Jones is originally from Casper, WY and received a BFA in ceramics and sculpture from the University of Wyoming in 2006 and an MFA in sculpture from Wichita State University in 2012. He creates toy-like sculptures and assemblages that seek to enshrine the everyday moments of child-rearing/parenthood. Jones has exhibited his work throughout the greater United States in notable spaces including: Space 204 at Vanderbilt University, The Nicolaysen Art Museum and the Macy Gallery at Columbia University. Jones currently lives and works in the Twin Cities.

    Juleana Enright is an Indigenous, queer, non-binary writer, curator, and DJ living in Minneapolis. They are a member of the Sicangu Lakota Tribe of Lower Brulé. Their past roles have included culture editor for l’étoile magazine and communications specialist for Gamut Gallery. They have contributed writing to Pride Magazine, mplsart.com, Primer, and City Pages. Juleana has curated two art exhibitions, including their own solo show in the spring of 2018, titled “Soft Boundaries.” Juleana is the co-founder of the multi-sensory queer dance and performance night, Feelsworldwide. In 2019, Juleana co-directed Lightning Rod, a week-long works-in-process theatre initiative. In 2020, they were a participating artist in Controlled Burn. They are the recipient of the Emerging Curators Institute 2020 fellowship.

    “Art is this rare space where contemplation and play are intertwined but as an artist myself, I’ve fallen into the camp of serious art making, and feel like my personal practice suffered for it.”  With this in mind the imagery Jamie has chosen approaches adult topics of identity and mental health, but with the spirit of freedom felt in the final days of summer. Pinky Promise is an exhibition that is unapologetically juvenile featuring a mashup of ideas and mediums through a youthful lens.

    Gamut is delighted to announce that of the 27 artists chosen to participate in this year’s event, more than two-thirds are displaying work with us for the first time. Their art helps make up the final 31 pieces that have recast our gallery as a play-place for fearless experimentation within painting, illustration, sculpture, and digital media. Varying shades of pinks, greens, blues, and purples wildly ricochet off each other,  embracing visitors with the playful and sentimental energy of Pinky Promise. While this event is undoubtedly a party in itself, opening night attendees are invited to come for the art and stay for music held in the courtyard!

    We invite you to join us for an evening of conversation with exhibiting solo artist, Suyao Tian, moderated by fellow local artist and MPLSART art writer Russ White. Together the pair will discuss In Your Own Words, a collection of Suyao’s most recent works hosted by Gamut Gallery in downtown Minneapolis.

    As temperatures rise in the Midwest, Suyao’s organic pools of vibrant color welcome viewers to dive in and explore a world beneath the surface. Her whimsical compositions capture our imaginations uniquely, connecting audiences to In Your Own Words through the lens of their individual experiences, memories, and creativity. For the first time in her career, collectors will have the opportunity to actively partake in her creative process, sharing their interpretations and naming the piece they purchase. 

    During this Art Talk, Suyao will speak about the significance of that connection while uncovering her painting techniques, inspiration, and the future direction of her work.     Suyao Tian began her studies in Music Education at Qinghai Normal University and Xiamen University in China. Following graduation, she began teaching Music Education as Assistant Professor at Guangdong Tianhe Technical Normal College in Guangzho, China. She later came to the US in 2011, where she began her studies in art and design. She started with her BA in Fine Art at the University of Central Arkansas. Afterward, she completed her MFA in Design and Branding Identity from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design in 2017. From her MFA studies, she developed and established her company Modern Cover™ where she designs and sells playful outerwear, which has been sold across the US.

    While curating, painting, running Modern Cover™, and raising her son, she continues to be a strong and active member across organizations within the art and creative communities of the Twin Cities. She currently serves on the Executive Board of Art Buddies and is passionately engaged with multiple galleries and organizations across the state. Her works have also caught the eye of local and national companies, like Room & Board, with her designs being applied and sold across various product types.

    Russ White is an artist, writer, and editor living in Minneapolis. After growing up in the Carolinas and Mississippi, White received a BA in Studio Art from Davidson College and has maintained a studio in the Casket Arts Building in Northeast Minneapolis since 2014, where he works primarily in colored pencil and mixed media. He has exhibited his work regionally and nationally (including a 2016 solo show at Gamut), is the recipient of two Minnesota State Arts Board Artist Initiative grants (2018 & 2020), and works as the editor of written content for MPLSART.COM.

    Complimenting our current exhibition, Art Is For Everyone, Gamut’s summer pop-up Makers Market has returned to Elliot Park! To commemorate a decade of operating within the Twin Cities arts community, we’ve invited ten creators that have helped tell our story to be part of it once again. As one of the season’s most popular events, our July market will feature jewelry, paintings, pottery, buttons, clothing, sassy cross-stitch, body care, naturalsoap and more!

    The core of Gamut’s philosophy is the sincere belief that art fosters community and that everyone should have access to becoming a collector. With that mission in mind, we are constantly working to reach new audiences that might not have previously known how welcome they are in gallery spaces. Knowing that many of our visitors have begun their journey collecting art with us here at Gamut is such an incredible honor that we feel so lucky to be a part of.
