THE COVEN + GAMUT GALLERY

The Coven was launched as an opportunity to connect underrepresented voices with an inclusive and intersectional workspace in 2017.  From then, the collective has grown to include two locations in the Twin Cities and 400+ members across multiple industries.  The Coven has been featured in publications like Cosmopolitan and Forbes, and connects communities of women, non-binary and trans people with networking resources, live events, and developmental courses.

Featured St. Paul Coven Artist

Leeya Rose Jackson is a multidisciplinary artist based in Minneapolis, MN, originally from Detroit, MI. Her creative pursuits include painting, filmmaking, illustration, textile art, and graphic design. Her work explores the intersections of identity, particularly Blackness, femininity, and queerness, often featuring celestial and universal surrealism motifs. She has created for Afropunk Music Festival, American Public Media, Sony Music, Giphy, Metro Transit, Outside Lands Festival, Heinz, and The Prince Estate. Her work is characterized by loud, vibrant colors, floral shapes, maximalism, and Afro-futurism.

HAUS SALON + GAMUT GALLERY

The award-winning HAUS Salon mindfully embodies the philosophy that beauty, confidence, and self-care are essential and unique to every person. HAUS Salon is dedicated to the creative process that goes beyond hair, skin, and body. They believe in supporting all artists. Since the first salon opened in 2011, HAUS has committed to showcasing the work of fine artists on the walls of our salons. The curation of these collections rotates among new artists every 4 months among the three salons.


Northeast HAUS Salon Featured Artist

Nicole Mueller is a Minneapolis photographer, printmaker, and real estate agent with a passion for the preservation and celebration of modernist architecture. Nicole’s photographs from her Desert Playground series are color-saturated, timeless portraits of the homes and landmarks that line the streets of Palm Springs’ iconic neighborhoods. Nicole uses vintage film cameras in combination with specialty films to create a sense of intimacy and capture the personalities of each structure. 

Nicole also enjoys sharing her love of analog photography and experimentation with others.  You’ll find her teaching hands-on darkroom classes and camps for kids and adults at the Supercharged Printmakers Studio in Northeast Minneapolis.

Nicollet HAUS Salon Featured Artist

Vibrant use of color and movement are often the first things observed in the art of Emily Forbes. Self-taught, Emily began using art in adulthood as a means of therapy to cope with disability. They are always exploring new mediums and pushing their artistic boundaries, with a certain affinity for acrylics, alcohol ink, and mixed media. Their expressive, intuitive style takes influences from nature, modern life, and a healthy dose of curiosity.

Northloop HAUS Salon Featured Artist

Genie Castro is a community leader in the arts. She creates unity with projects she is involved in by connecting with people. She encourages students and clients to get into the creative process and learn through that exploration. Castro is the director and owner of a printmaking studio in the Casket Arts Building in Northeast Minneapolis called SuperCharged Printmakers. It is there she and other printmakers create an inviting space for artists to create freely in the medium of printmaking and have showing opportunities. 

Genie’s artworks hung alongside artists Andy Warhol, Damien Hirst, Frank Stella, Robert Longo, and Donald Sultan. Castro’s art is featured in the homes of many private collectors and in public and corporate collections.
