Every Spring & Fall | “There’s Always Time for a Photo Shoot” GLAM SLAM
The biannual clothing swap, dress-up photoshoot party turns Gamut Gallery into a pop-up boutique. Bring clothing and other wearable gear you no longer want and leave with new-to-you goods. www.glamslamswap.com

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
For the past couple years every spring and fall, the studio event space known as the Slam Factory turns into an underground pop-up boutiquette. But the focus is not what’s for sale, it’s what’s for swap. Participants bring the clothes, outerwear, and accessories they no longer want, and leave with new-to-you gear. All sizes, seasons, and styles of wearable goods are welcome. Add professional hair and makeup stations, a photo/video booth complete with props, a DJ, and the clothing swap transcends into a full-on dress-up party.
With the recent expansion of the studio to include the adjacent storefront, the Glam Slam hosts have more space for their creative events and appreciation of the arts at the Gamut Gallery. They opened the gallery June 9th of this year, and share the storefront and basement studio space with an electronic arts academy. Gamut exists to bring people together to create, collaborate, and experience art. The gallery features diverse media, content, and collaborators, with a particular affinity for the art of the happening. Glam Slam epitomizes Gamut’s programming, pulling together fashion, music, and photography into a single experience.
This time around Glam Slam will occupy both floors. All swap goods will be downstairs as usual, while upstairs will have a selection of local handmade jewelry, clothing, and art for sale. DJ Slow Derek will play an eclectic soundtrack, while Dillon Baake captures photo and video footage projected by Jim Weiss. This year’s event is Saturday September 22nd, 2012 from 6-9pm. Presale tickets to Glam Slam are available for $7 at Gamut Gallery during open hours, Thursdays and Saturdays from 4-8PM.
